Greek Speaker Meets Chinese Politburo Member

Apostolos Kaklamanis, speaker of the Greek Parliament and executive member of the central committee of Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK), met Wednesday with Wei Jianxing, a politburo member of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee.

Wei said China highly values the deep friendship between the two peoples and is pleased with bilateral relations over the past few years.

He said China will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Greece in various fields, including parliamentary and party affairs.

Kaklamanis said China's rapid economic development deeply impressed him when he visited China three years ago.

He said the Greek side highly appreciates China's active role in international affairs, and is willing to make more efforts to develop Greece-China relations in the new century.
