Asia vs Europe Table Tennis Team Contest to Start in China

The eastern Chinese city of Jinan will host an Asia vs Europe table Tennis team contest starting from Saturday, with Asian champions China and European champion Sweden participating.

The eastern Chinese city of Jinan will host an Asia vs Europe table Tennis team contest starting from Saturday, with Asian champions China and European champion Sweden participating.

The Class A event sanctioned by the world governing body the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has 120,000 US dollars as prize money.

This is the 10th clash between table tennis world powers China and Sweden and the first since ITTF introduced the larger ball and 11-points scoring system.

China's Shandong Luneng Group Co. Ltd. has signed a sponsorship contract with the ITTF, for financial backing of this year's event as well as those in 2003 and 2005.
