Tianshannet of Xinjiang Starts Up

Tianshannet (www.tianshannet.com.cn), a website jointly established by the local government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and People's Daily Online, was formally put into operation on December 18.

Tianshannet (www.tianshannet.com.cn), a website jointly established by the local government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and People's Daily Online, was formally put into operation on December 18.

An important news website operating at a regional level, Tianshannet's launching demonstrates that online publication in Xinjiang has entered a new phase.

Fully taking advantage of major news resources in Xinjiang, Tianshannet, featuring broad coverage and run with a range of multiple service functions available, will give a daily release of several hundred pieces of news.

Tianshannet is comprised of 10 channels, including News Center, Information on the CPC and Government, Ethnic Cultural Customs, Tourism in Xinjiang, Western Development, Economy Online, Walking into Xinjiang, Tianshan Literature and Art etc.

It will also provide timely policies adopted by the Xinjiang local government and give an all-round introduction to this region's politics, economy and culture, in an effort to familiarize friends both at home and abroad with things in Xinjiang.

Tianshannet is the offspring of cooperation between the Department of Publicity, CPC XUAR Committee, and People's Daily Online. On the strength of its rich local news resources and the technologies and brand name of People's Daily Online, the website is anticipated to be run and grow into an influential news dissemination platform in Western China and across China.

Tomur Dawamat, Vice-Chairman of NPC Standing Committee, Wang Lequan, Party secretary of CPC XUAR, Abulaiti Abudurexiti, chairman of the autonomous region and Xu Zhongtian, president of People's Daily have all inscribed for the launching of the website.
