New Expressway Opened to Traffic in Central China

A new expressway and road bridgewere opened to traffic Saturday in central China's Hubei Province.

Located in the northern part of the province, the expressway ispart of a national traffic artery connecting Beijing and Zhuhai, acoastal city in south China's Guangdong Province neighboring Macao.

The Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway involves three projects in Hubei -- two expressways respectively in the province's northern and southern parts, and a road bridge crossing the Yangtze River near this provincial capital.

The part of the Beijing-Zhuhai expressway in the province is about 340 kilometers long, with an expected investment of over 12 billion yuan (about 1.4 billion U.S. dollars).
