Cross-Straits Symposium on Home Textiles Closes
Representatives from hometextiles industries from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan closed athree-day symposium Saturday, at which they discussed ways to tapthe rapidly expanding market.

Thirty-five Taiwanese representatives and more than 300 oftheir mainland counterparts took part in the symposium in HainingCity, Zhejiang Province.
Their discussions ranged from the latest developments in designand technology to market exploration and the possibilities ofenhancing cross-straits cooperation in the industry.Information from the symposium shows that China now boasts morethan 10,000 home textiles firms, mainly located in Zhejiang,Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong provinces.
The sector reported output worth 200 billion yuan and exportsof 5.42 billion U.S. dollars-worth in 2000.
The symposium was jointly sponsored by the China TextileIndustry Council and the Taiwan Textile Development Association.
