This is the first tree ever planted in Myanmar by a Chinese leader.
Myanmar Foreign Minister U Win Aung and Yangon Mayor U Ko Lay accompanied Jiang during the planting and gave introductions to the tree.
Among loud applause, Jiang added earth and water for the tree.
Madhuca Longifolia, the evergreen tree, can grow over 100 feet high and live hundreds of years. Myanmar people believe that this tree is magic because the tree's branch, leaf, flower and fruit can be taken as ingredients of medicine.
