Chinese President Leaves for Myanmar

Chinese President Jiang Zemin left Beijing Wednesday for a state visit to the Union of Myanmar. Jiang's visit to Myanmar is at the invitation of Senior General Than Shwe, chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin left Beijing Wednesday for a state visit to the Union of Myanmar.

Jiang's visit to Myanmar is at the invitation of Senior General Than Shwe, chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar.

Among those seeing Jiang off in the Great Hall of the People were Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, Vice-President Hu Jintao and other high-ranking officials.

Jiang's entourage includes his wife Wang Yeping, Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and other high-ranking officials.
