Hydropower Plant Operational in Fujian

All four sets of generators at the Mianhuatan hydropower plant in east China's Fujian Province went into operation Sunday.

All four sets of generators at the Mianhuatan hydropower plant in east China's Fujian Province went into operation Sunday.

As a state-level key project, this hydropower plant is located in Yongding County on the Tingjiang River.

Involving a variety of advanced technologies and equipment, the plant has a water storage capacity of 2.035 billion cubic meters, and is able to generate 1.52 billion kilowatt hours of electricity a year.

The plant will greatly help enhance local flood-control efforts, and accelerate the development of local river transportation and tourism as well as aquaculture.

The power plant cost approximately five billion yuan in dynamic investment.
