All four sets of generators at the Mianhuatan hydropower plant in east China's
Fujian
Province went into operation Sunday.
As a state-level key project, this hydropower plant is located in Yongding County on the Tingjiang River.
Involving a variety of advanced technologies and equipment, the plant has a water storage capacity of 2.035 billion cubic meters, and is able to generate 1.52 billion kilowatt hours of electricity a year.
The plant will greatly help enhance local flood-control efforts, and accelerate the development of local river transportation and tourism as well as aquaculture.
The power plant cost approximately five billion yuan in dynamic investment.
