Expressways Top 800 Kilometers in Central China Province

With the opening Thursday of a 203-km-long expressway between Shangqiu and Kaifeng cities, the total length of expressway in central China's Henan Province has now reached 870 km.

With the opening Thursday of a 203-km-long expressway between Shangqiu and Kaifeng cities, the total length of expressway in central China's Henan Province has now reached 870 km.

It means Henan is now one of the top expressway builders in thecountry.

The new expressway took three years and cost 4.287 billion yuanto build and made the province one step closer to its goal of 1,000 km of expressway within this year, according to local sources.

By November 20, the province will have spent 12.8 billion yuan on building expressways, compared with over 10 billion yuan last year.

When the Luoyang-Sanmenxia-Lingbao expressway is completed at the end of this year, the total mileage of Henan's expressways is expected to reach 1,075 km, sources say.
