Israel to Step Up Targeted Liquidation Against Terrorism: Sharon
Israelis Prime Minster Ariel Sharon said Wednesday night that he will step up an assassination campaign against top extremist figures, promising an increase in "pinpoint prevention", the website of the Ha'aretz daily reported.Speaking at a Likud internal meeting, Sharon stressed thatIsrael "will attack every target of terror organizations, we willuse economic leverage, and we will not conduct political contactswith them."

During the meeting with the Likud's parliament members, Sharonalso unveiled a plan against the Palestinian National Authority(PNA) and extremist Palestinian organizations, which was schemed byIsraeli security establishments.
Hours before the meeting, Sharon set a 12-hour deadline for PNAChairman Yasser Arafat to arrest "terrorist figures" in thePalestinian-controlled West Bank and Gaza Strip, followingconsultations with Foreign Minister Shimon Peres.
The PNA, however, rejected the deadline, stressing that Israelmust immediately implement the Mitchell report recommendations andthe Tenet plan.
