Customs officers at Gongbei Checkpoint, one of the major land gateways connecting the Chinese mainland and Macao, dealt with 480 cases of oil product smuggling in the first ten months of the year.

Customs sources say that the cases involved the smuggling of 25,888 tons of oil products valued at 23.7 million yuan (about 2.86 million U.S. dollars).

All the statistics show increases from the same period last year, especially for the number of smuggling cases and the volume of smuggled goods, say the customs sources.

Gongbei Checkpoint is situated in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province.
