Chinese Software Distributors Launch Anti-Piracy Campaign
Chinese software distributor Beijing Federal Software Co, Ltd. recently joined hands with other firm to promote software at five to 20 yuan to rid illegal copies and get back market shares. The campaign, starting from December 1, aims to sell 5,000 categories of software worth some one billion yuan in one year. Distributors believes that customers will be attracted to their products that are almost as cheap as pirated ones but with copyrights.
Li Ruxiong, president of Beijing Federal Software Co, Ltd. said that his company had joined hands with three other firms to promote software at five to 20 yuan so as to rid illegal copies and get back market shares from illegal dealers selling low-priced products.
The campaign, starting from December 1, aims to sell 5,000 categories of software worth some one billion yuan in one year.
Li is confident that customers will be attracted to their products that are almost as cheap as pirated ones but with copyrights.
Beijing Zhengpu Technological Development Co has accomplished sales of more than 790,000 copies in less than three months since it launched a low price movement in August.
However, Kevin Hou, deputy general manager of Microsoft China, pointed out that low prices could lead to a decrease in the development capability of Chinese software makers and be harmful to the industry in the long run.
