Following a marathon-like meeting urgently convened by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the Israeli cabinet decided on Monday midnight to declare the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) as the entity supporting terrorism, Israel Radio reported.
The cabinet's decision would pave the way for Israel's more severe retaliation for the Palestinian attacks of the past week which left at least 35 Israelis dead and some 400 others injured.
The six-hour-long meeting, scheduled to discuss further measures for responding to the recent attacks, came immediately after Sharon delivered a special address to the nation during the night after the military retaliation on Palestinian targets in theGaza Strip and West Bank.
In the address, Sharon demanded that Arafat and the PNA undertake all the responsibility for the current regional situation.
Right after the suicide bombings in Jerusalem on December 1, Arafat had strongly condemned the bombings.
