Ma Lin Beats Table Tennis Great Waldner in Danish Open

Chinese Ma Lin crushed Sweden's table tennis all-time great Jan-Ove Waldner in the Danish Open table tennis final in Farum on Sunday.

Chinese Ma Lin crushed Sweden's table tennis all-time great Jan-Ove Waldner in the Danish Open table tennis final in Farum on Sunday.

Ma beat the aging Waldner, who has won a grand slam of Olympic, world championships and World Cup singles titles, 11-4, 8-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-8.

In the women's final, Chinese Li Jia routed Japanese Aya Umenura 4-0.

Chinese Bai Yang and Jing Jun Hong of Singapore shared the third place.

South Korea swept the doubles events as Kim Taek Soo and Oh Sang Eun nipped Chinese Ma Lin and Wang Hao 4-2 and Ryu Ji Hye and Lee Eun Sil defeated Chinese Bai Yang and Li Jia 4-2.
