Chinese, Vietnamese Congresses Vow to Strengthen Cooperation
Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said Saturday that Chinese NPC hopes to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Vietnamese National Assembly (VNA) for the better bilateral relations and cooperation.

Li, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remark in his meeting with Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
Citing that inter-parliament relations are an important part of Sino-Vietnamese relationship, Li said that NPC and VNA should learn from each other in law making and strengthen all-side contacts in the reform and opening-up drive in the two countries.
Manh, in return, expressed his expectation that the inter-parliament exchanges will enrich the contents of bilateral ties and called on the two sides to enhance cooperation and consultation in bilateral and multi-lateral areas.
Li spoke highly Manh's current visit, the first paid by the top Vietnamese leader in the new century, saying that high-level reciprocal visits have played an irreplaceable role in developing party-to-party and state-to-state relations.
Li also briefed the guests on China's view on current international situation and the construction of socialist market economy.
Manh said that it is the common determination for the two leadership to strengthen and develop traditional friendship amidst the current complicated international situation.
