Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Saturday that China attaches great importance to trade and economic cooperation with its neighbor Vietnam.
Zhu made the remark when meeting with Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Zhu, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, said that the two countries are highly complementary to each other in trade and economic developments and thus enjoy great potentials in trade and economic cooperation, He said that China is willing to explore new ways of economic cooperation with Vietnam based on the principles of mutual benefits, pursuing tangible results and quality of cooperation, and common developments.
Manh said that he is satisfied with the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries, stressing that trade and economic relations are an important part of the bilateral ties.
Both sides should work together to promote border trade and advance cooperation in major construction projects, he said.
