Non-Communist Party Figures Briefed on Central Economic Conference
On behalf of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC), Wang Zhaoguo met a group of non-communist party celebrities in the country Friday to brief them on the just-concluded Central Economic Working Conference.

Participants at the meeting included leaders of non-communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and representatives of those without party affiliation.
Wang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Wang conveyed to the participants highlights of the speeches given by President Jiang Zemin and Premier Zhu Rongji at the conference.
The meeting summarized the work of this year and proposed the general demands for next year's work.
He emphasized that economic work is the focal point of the Party and the Nation, therefore it is United Front's duty to participate in economic undertakings.
Wang also mentioned the important role played by the non-communist parties and those without party affiliation. He expressed the hope that these people will do more to boost the sustained, rapid and healthy development of the national economy and the overall social progress.
