Palestinian Killed by Israeli troops in southern Gaza

Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian man late Wednesday night near the Jewish settlement of Nitzarim south of Gaza City, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

Palestinian security officials told Xinhua that they were informed by the Israeli side to send a Palestinian ambulance to take one of the Palestinians who was seriously injured.

However, Israeli army sources said that the wounded Palestinian was taken by an Israeli army helicopter to the Israeli hospital of Soroka in Beer Sheva in southern Israel. They said that Israeli troops opened fire at a group of Palestinian gunmen who were walking close to the settlement of Kerem Shalom near Sofa commercial passage. One was injured and taken to an Israeli hospital, while the other three managed to escape, they added.
