China Mobile Boasts 100 Million Phone Users
China Mobile Communications Corporation (China Mobile) announced on Monday that it has more than 100 million mobile phone users. This makes China Mobile the first mobile-phone operator boasting 100 million users in the world, and also marks a milestone for the country's mobile communications industry.

Development history
Since November 1987 when it set up its first mobile communications system in China, China Mobile has developed a nationwide GSM network and established close partnership with over 140 overseas counterparts for international services.
During the past four and a half years, the group's phone users have multiplied from 10 million to the present 100 million, said Lu Xiangdong, vice-general-manager of China Mobile, adding the figure is still growing at an average rate of 120,000 per day. And China Mobile is and has always been willing to enhance its services for customers.
As a state-backbone enterprise newly built according to the arrangement and requirement of the national telecom restructuring, China Mobile Communications Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "China Mobile") was founded on April 20, 2000, under the communications industry management of the Ministry of Information Industry.
