Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh told reporters here Tuesday afternoon that Cambodia would make more efforts to get access to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

At a press conference, co-sponsored by visiting WTO Director-General Mike Moore and the Cambodian commerce minister, Cham Prasidh said that leaders of the Cambodian government had given clear instructions and support for the integration of Cambodia's economy into the regional economy (ASEAN) and the world's economy (WTO).

He noted that the last two years have witnessed considerable developments in Cambodia, and the government has adopted the most important agenda for rapid poverty alleviation and economic and social progress.

Now Cambodia is in the accession process towards the WTO so thecountry would accelarate and deepen its reform programs and development process, he added.

The WTO director-general would leave here Tuesday night after concluding his two-day visit to Cambodia at the invitation of the Royal government.

During the visit, he met Cambodian leaders and had a brief session with Cham Prasidh and other senior officials on the WTO accession of Cambodia and the integrated framework for trade-related technical assistance to support Cambodia.
