Macao's Jobless Rate Stands at 6.5 Percent in August-October

Macao's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.5 percent in August-October, down 0.2 percentage points from the same period of last year, according to the latest official statistics.

Macao's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.5 percent in August-October, down 0.2 percentage points from the same period of last year, according to the latest official statistics.

Figures released by the Statistics and Census Services show that the August-October unemployment rate, however, went up 0.2 percentage points from the July-September period.

A total of 14,600 Macao people were still reportedly jobless, while the employed population stood at 212,000 in the three months.

The labor force reached an estimated 226,000 people from August to October, constituting about half of Macao's population, according to statistics.

The sectors reporting more employees include real estate, renting, transportation, telecommunications, manufacturing and catering, while the employment situation became even worse in the industries of construction, wholesale and retail sales and domestic service.
