Thousands Protest Over Sexual Violence in S. Africa

Thousands of people have protested in South Africa after the rapes of an eight-month-old baby and a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, ABC reports Monday.

Thousands of people have protested in South Africa after the rapes of an eight-month-old baby and a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, ABC reports Monday.

The attacks are the latest in a series of sexual assaults against children.

The two-and-a-half-year-old girl was found in a field trying to walk back to her parents house.

She was suffering from internal injuries after being raped.

The attack came less than a day after an eight-month-old girl was sexually assaulted in town of Ravensmead in the Western Cape.

The infant was allegedly abducted before she was raped and sodomised.

More than 5,000 people have rallied in Cape Town in response to the attacks.

The leaders of the demonstration called for an end to sexual violence against women and children.

Police commanders urged the crowd to join the fight sexual violence
