Corruption Trial Opens for Senior Guangxi Official

The trial of Zhu Zhitian, former party head of the government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region communications department, began Thursday at the intermediate people's court of Qinzhou City.

The trial of Zhu Zhitian, former party head of the government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region communications department, began Thursday at the intermediate people's court of Qinzhou City.

Zhu, 61, is accused of accepting 545,800 yuan and 3,000 US dollars in bribes from individuals and institutions on 21 occasions.

He has also been found unable to account for 1.32 million yuan in his possession.

He was arrested on January 12 this year.
