China Radio International (CRI) , the only overseas broadcaster in China, held a forum to celebrate its 60th anniversary Friday in Beijing.

Founded on December 3, 1941, CRI is among the biggest radio stations in the world. CRI broadcasts are in 38 foreign languages, China's official national language Putonghua and four Chinese dialects. CRI's journalists and editors attended today's forum.

Statistics show that in recent years, CRI has received more than 600,000 letters annually from its listeners in more than 200 countries and regions. Many listeners describe CRI as a bridge between the Chinese people and other peoples in the world, and the most convenient and efficient way to learn about China. Today, CRI's programs are available on the Internet. In terms of scale and content, CRI's website is one of the largest in China. In addition, CRI operates 27 overseas bureaus around the world, and many local bureaus in China, including those in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, thereby forming a comprehensive global news and information network.
