China Stresses Enforcement of Labor, Trade Union Laws
Senior Chinese leaders Wei Jianxing and Wu Bangguo have stressed the importance of the faithful enforcement of the labor and trade union laws to protect employees' interests. The enforcement will benefit both nation's development and individual's interests.

Speaking at a national conference in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province in east China, Wei Jianxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, advocated the promotion of the labor contract systems.
Importance of Enforcement
Wei, also chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, said the establishment of the two systems is essential for stable and harmonious labor relations, and the protection of the interests of both employers and employees.
For the two systems to prevail, the system of employees' representative assemblies must be established in state-owned enterprises, and if possible, in private and foreign-funded enterprises as well.
In a written message to the conference, Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo underscored the importance of the enforcement of the two laws to the country's reform, development and stability.
The conference on the enforcement of the said two laws was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the State Economic and Trade Commission, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and other relevant bodies.

China's Labor Law is formulated in accordance with the Constitution in order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of laborers, readjust labor relationship, establish and safeguard the labor system suiting the socialist market economy, and promote economic development and social progress.
