Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday that China and Russia will strengthen cooperation in anti-terrorism.
At a routine news briefing, Zhang said that Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about anti-terrorism by telephone Monday evening.
The whole international community is faced with the issue of anti-terrorism, Zhang said.
During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting held October in Shanghai, China and Russia decided to establish a Sino-Russian anti-terrorism working group, she said.
The first meeting of the Sino-Russian anti-terrorism working group, which is at vice-ministerial level and scheduled later thismonth in Beijing, will discuss the current anti-terrorism efforts being taken world-wide and further co-operation in this area between Russia and China.
