President General Pervez Musharraf on Monday said that Pakistan's decision to join international coalition in the fight against terrorism is a principled one and motivated by core interests

Musharraf made the remarks while talking to the District Nazims(governors) from Sindh province who called on him in Islamabad, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

"Following the September 11 attack on USA, we took a decision in the best national interest which was motivated by the concerns of security of Pakistan and its core interests," Musharraf said.

" Pakistan's solidarity and integrity are most important. We have saved our core interests, the nuclear assets and the Kashmir cause," he said.

About Pakistan's economic situation, Musharraf said the government is pursuing three objectives: debt relief, budgetary support and market access.

"The progress is good with bilateral and multilateral donors. We are on the right path and things are going very well for Pakistan's economy," the president said.

Musharraf said Pakistan today faces a very unhealthy situation on account of the extremist forces and asked the Nazims to maintain law and order in their respective areas by eliminating culture of hatred and root out the menace of sectarianism. "Don't let mosques to be used for fanning hatred," he added.
