Blair, Putin Hold "Useful" Talks: TV Report

British Prime Minister Tony Blair had "useful and productive" talks with Russian President Putin on the telephone on Saturday, according to a BBC TV report.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair had "useful and productive" talks with Russian President Putin on the telephone on Saturday, according to a BBC TV report.

The TV report on Sunday quoted Downing Street as saying that two men discussed Putin's meeting with U.S. President Bush, the situation in Afghanistan and Blair's ideas on closer links betweenRussia and NATO.

The report gave no further details about their telephone talks,but confirmed that the Secretary General of NATO, Lord Robertson will visit Russia next week.
