Henan Rower Disqualified from China's National Games for Doping

A woman rower from central China's Henan Province had been disqualified from thecurrent national games, for failing a doping test, it was announced Saturday.

A woman rower from central China's Henan Province had been disqualified from thecurrent national games, for failing a doping test, it was announced Saturday.

Zhou Xinrong, 25, who won the quadruple sculls gold medal on Friday and the double sculls bronze medal on Thursday, had failed an earlier doping test.

The result of the test showed that the presence of testosterone to epitestostrone (T/E) ratio was greaterthan six, which represents a violation of the anti-doping code, according to the report from the Beijing-based anti-doping laboratory.

The disciplinary commission and competition department of the games' organizing committee decided to immediately disqualify the rower from the games, her results was annulled and her medals withdrawn.

The rower faces further punishment by the sport's national governing body the Chinese Rowing Association.
