China would help Cambodia drill 500 water wells for civil use in rural areas in Cambodia in aid, said an Exchange of Notes signed here Friday afternoon by China and Cambodia.

Secretary of State for Foreign Ministry Uch Kiman and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Ning Fukui inked the exchange of notes Friday afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

At the request of the Royal government, the Chinese government has agreed to undertake a project of drilling 500 water wells for Cambodia, whose expenses will be defrayed from the remaining sum of the grant stipulated in the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation signed on November 13, 2000 between the two governments.

China has already drilled 1,000 water wells for Cambodia for civil use in some provinces in Cambodia.
