World champion and Sydney Olympic silver medalist Guo Jingjing clinched the victory of the women's one-meter springboard diving event Wednesday night at China's ongoing 9th National Games.

Qualified for the finals in the third place, the 19-year-old from North China's Hebei province led the 12 finalists throughout the five rounds of dives and collected a total of 310.41 points to win the title.

Zhang Jing, representing the People's Liberation Army, followed Guo closely to score 310.05 points and finish the second.

Li Rongjuan of the host Guangdong provincial team, who finished the first in the preliminaries, did not give her best display and ranked third with 288.99.

China's "Diving Queen" Fu Mingxia, who claimed to take part in the one-meter and three-meter springboard events, quit the games prior to the Wednesday competition due to a neck injury, to the disappointment of many fans who had expected to enjoy her farewell performance at the National Games.
