Four destroyers and two supply ships of the Maritime Self- Defense Force will also be dispatched to transport supplies, Kyodo reported, quoting a basic plan it obtained.

The area of operations will be in the Indian Ocean centering on the island of Diego Garcia, a British territory used as an air and naval base by Britain and the United States, as well as the Gulf and Arabian Sea, it reported.

Fuel and food supplies will be provided from Southeast Asia and Australia, according to Kyodo.

The plan also includes transportation of supplies by six C-130 transport planes, it added.
