China welcomes and supports the resolution and consensus reached by the international community on anti-terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said Tuesday.

The United Nations Security Council has organized a meeting of foreign ministers on the issue of anti-terrorism which endorsed the above resolution.

The resolution shows the international community's determination and agreement to strengthen cooperation in the fight against all forms of terrorism and brings the leading role of the U.N. and its Security Council into full play, Zhu said.

Afghan Issue

China is satisfied with the declaration reached after the meeting of the "Six-plus-Two" group of the United Nations, Zhu said.

The U.N.'s "Six plus Two" group, comprising China, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the United States and Russia, reached consensus at the meeting on November 12.

In order to find a solution to the Afghan issue, Zhu said, the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,as well as the self-determination of the Afghan affairs should be observed.

The future government in Afghanistan should be broad-based and embody the interests of all ethnic groups in the country, and should live peacefully with all countries, particularly its neighbors, Zhu said.

He said that the solution should be helpful to maintaining peace and stability in the region, and during the process of settling the issue the U.N. should play a more active and constructive role.
