China hopes Africa achieve peace and stability, national unity and territorial integrity, said Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji Tuesday morning.

Zhu told visiting Rwandan President Paul Kagame that peace and development are the keystones of the times, and stability is the foundation for economic development.

Zhu welcomed Kagame's visit at the 30th anniversary of Sino-Rwandan relations, saying that the meeting between Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Kagame Monday was fruitful.

The agreement on economic and technological cooperation and the formalities for canceling Rwanda's debt signed after the meeting, shows Kagame's visit has been successful, he noted.

Zhu said that he is pleased to see the achievements Rwanda has made in economic recovery and national stability under the rule of Kagame. He believes Rwanda will continue to make progress in promoting economic development and improving the living standards of its people.

He also expressed his appreciation for Rwanda's support on the One-China principle and China's unification cause.

On China's domestic situation, Zhu said that China is a developing country, and its western regions are still poor. He hoped that the Rwandan guests would visit the west of China.

Kagame thanked China for canceling Rwanda's debt and for China's aid and assistance to Rwanda, saying that Rwanda's economic recovery has been going on gradually despite of some difficulties.

He congratulated China on its accession to the World Trade Organization, believing that China will play an important role in the global trading body.

He promised Rwanda will continue to reinforce its relations with China and make its due contribution to regional peace.
