Top Chinese legislator Li Peng left Bariloche for Uruguay Monday at the conclusion of his official visit to Argentina.
During his stay in Argentina, Li held talks with Argentine President Fernando de la Rua and his Argentine counterpart Mario Anibal Losada on bilateral, regional and world issues.
Leaders of both countries agreed to further strengthen Sino-Argentine relations in various fields.
Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, told Argentine leaders that China attaches great importance to its relations with Latin American countries, including Argentina. He expressed his belief that Latin America will play an increasingly important role in a multi-polar world which is taking shape.
Li said Sino-Argentine relations will develop soundly and smoothly with joint efforts of the governments, parliaments and other social sectors of the two countries.
During his stay in Buenos Aires, Li also had a meeting with representatives from different walks of life, particularly industrialists. He encouraged exchanges and cooperation between business people of the two countries as a way to promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
He was given the title of Honored Guest of City by the mayors of Buenos Aires and Bariloche, a southwestern city where Li spent the last two days of his four-day visit to Argentina.
Argentina is the third leg of Li's five-nation visit to North Africa and Latin America, which has brought him to Algeria and Cuba and will take him to Uruguay and Tunisia.
