Chinese, Argentine Leaders Say Bilateral Cooperation Fruitful

Chinese top legislator and Argentine President Fernando de la Rua agreed that bilateral cooperation has been successful and fruitful in various fields and they pointed out that the two countries have laid a sound and solid foundation for the development of the bilateral relations ever since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1972.

Chinese Top Legislator Meets Argentine President
Visiting top Chinese legislator and Argentine President Fernando de la Rua agreed Thursday in Buenos Aires that bilateral cooperation has been successful and fruitful in various fields.

At a meeting, they pointed out that the two countries have laid a sound and solid foundation for the development of the bilateral relations ever since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1972.

The two leaders also said that the exchange and cooperation between parliaments of the two countries has played an active role in enhancing the two peoples' friendship and strengthening the state-to-state ties.

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said he expects Argentine parliament members to pay more visits to China.

It is a key part of China's foreign policy to continuously strengthen the country's relations with Latin American countries, including Argentina. When the world political multi-polarity and economic globalization are taking shape, Latin America, he said, will be an important polar and play a bigger role in the world.

De la Rua said China is an important country in the world's political and economic life, describing China's sustainable development as quite an achievement.

On China's impending entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Argentine president said his country has been pleased for supporting China's WTO membership application. He also said his country firmly stands for the One-China policy.
