HKSAR Legislative Council resumes 2nd reading debate on National Anthem Bill

HONG KONG, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The Legislative Council (LegCo) of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Wednesday resumed the second reading debate on the National Anthem Bill and will continue the debate on Thursday as the procedure is not finished. Martin Liao Cheung-kong, chairman of the LegCo committee responsible for the bill, said at the meeting that the national anthem is the national symbol and sign according to the Constitution and Hong Kong bears the constitutional responsibility for the legislation, which implies the importance of respecting the national anthem.

Advisory: Schedule for NPC annual session on May 28

BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The following is the schedule for the third session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) on Thursday. -- NPC deputies will hold group meetings in the morning to deliberate documents including the draft civil code and the draft decision of the NPC on establishing and improving the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to safeguard national security.

Xi Jinping joins deliberation with NPC deputies from Hubei province

“New infrastructure” included in China’s government work report for first time

The concept of “new infrastructure” has been for the first time included in China’s government work report this year, which vowed to develop next-generation information networks and expand 5G applications, build more charging facilities and promote wider use of new-energy automobiles, and stimulate new consumer demand and promote industrial upgrading.
