China, Kyrgyzstan agree BRI key to bilateral ties, regional cooperation

BISHKEK, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Beijing and Bishkek agreed that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), through implementation of major projects, is of key significance to bilateral ties and regional cooperation, according to a joint statement issued by the two sides on Thursday. The statement on further deepening the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership was released as Chinese President Xi Jinping is paying a state visit to the Central Asian country, where he will also attend the 19th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

Chinese president awarded Kyrgyzstan's highest medal

BISHKEK, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov awarded here on Thursday his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, the Manas Order of the First Degree, the highest national prize of the central Asian nation. Speaking at a ceremony held in the state guest house in Bishkek, Jeenbekov said he appreciates Xi's special contributions to the development of the Kyrgyzstan-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

China, Kyrgyzstan agree to enhance ties to new heights

BISHKEK, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Sooronbay Jeenbekov, held talks here Thursday, agreeing to take their countries' comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights. Xi arrived in the Central Asian country Wednesday for a state visit and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Situated along rivers and beside mountains, Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan and host of this year's Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, used to be a key juncture along the ancient Silk Road. The historical trade routes snaked through the Central Asian country for centuries, witnessing and facilitating commercial and cultural exchanges between the East and the West.
