Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that human history advances with cultural inclusiveness, as he proposed a toast at the welcoming banquet for distinguished guests attending the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. More than 1,500 delegates from over 130 nations gathered in Beijing on Sunday for the two-day forum.
A senior official of China's central bank said Sunday that the decision to inject capital into the Silk Road Fund stemmed from an enormous funding demand. The fund has a large reserve of projects in waiting, and the demand for funds will be greater in the future, said Yi Gang, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China.
China is hosting a banquet to welcome delegates of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. President Xi Jinping will address the guests later.
China will enhance cooperation with the United Nations on peacekeeping, according to Chinese State Councilor and Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun. China will also deepen cooperation with the UN in areas including anti-terrorism and drugs control so as to contribute more to world peace and development, Guo said while meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Beijing Saturday.
