President Xi Jinping said Sunday that China is willing to strengthen strategic coordination and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan. Xi made the remarks when meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
A senior official of China's central bank said Sunday that the decision to inject capital into the Silk Road Fund stemmed from an enormous funding demand. The fund has a large reserve of projects in waiting, and the demand for funds will be greater in the future, said Yi Gang, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China.
Starting 2018, China will host the China International Import Expo, according to the cooperation initiative on trade connectivity released Sunday at the ongoing Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The expo will not only further open the door for foreign imports into China, but also provide an international platform to facilitate trade growth worldwide, according to the initiative.
President Xi Jinping said Sunday that China will contribute an additional 100 billion yuan (about 14.5 billion U.S. dollars) to the Silk Road Fund to scale up financing support for the Belt and Road Initiative.
