1st day: arrive at Kunming; 2nd day: visit Kunming; 3rd day: Yuxi; 4th day: Pu'er; 5th-7th day: Xishuangbanna

Yuxi

The warm breeze from the Red River Valley ripples the surface of Fuxian Lake.

(Notes: Clear, blue, swimmable water–it sounds more like a fantasy than a description of a modern Chinese lake. But Fuxian Lake remains one of the country's best-preserved lakes, due to its remarkable depth and relative obscurity.)

Along the lakeshore, fisherman is fishing under the banyan tree.

Pick tea leaves in the E Mountain Tea Garden, drink tea while eating and enjoy the bitterness of tea.

The Huayao Dai are historically part of the great and ancient Dai race. The rows of silver bulbs and silver bells on Huayao Dai dresses, together with a set of silver ornaments, shine brightly under the sunshine and make a melodious sound when they walk. During the Huajie Festival, lovers have a good time together.

(Notes: The Huayao Tai is historically part of the great and ancient Tai race.

Huayao Dai, is famous for each woman of the ethnic group wrapped around the waist by a colorful ribbon.

What does make the waists of the Huayao Dai women so beautiful are layers upon layers of colored strips embedded on their costumes, including colored strips on the vests and coats and on the aprons. Each apron in a tier is lower than the previous one, displaying the colorfully striped ends and forming colored waists.

The rows of silver bulbs and silver bells on Huayao Dai dresses, together with a set of silver ornaments, shine brightly under the sunshine and make a melodious sound when they walk.

And Huajie Festival has the reputation of "Oriental valentine's day", because boys and girls love each other in unique way in the festival. Huajie Festival (Flower Street Festival) is spent on each lunar January 13th and May 6th by the Huayao Dai members who will be traditionally dressed and prepare "Yang Luo Fan" (Meal Prepared in Bamboo Basket) for lovers.)

Pu'er

Pu'er is the first place where tea was grown in the world and one of the important post houses on the Chama Ancient Path. So Pu'er City is generally acknowledged as one of the most famous sources of pu'er tea and the land of tea of the world. Mabang Lovesong is a wide-spread song.

The king of tea tree located in Qianjia Village, with its 2,700-year history, is still leafy. With the Tropic of Cancer crossing through, this area is endowed with different sceneries by the sun.

(Ailao is one of the largest high altitude tea forest in Simao prefecture and is home to one of the oldest King Tea Trees in the world–2,700 years old. Most of the tea trees in this forest are older, wild type plants.

Xishuangbanna

Xishuangbanna is the only oasis of 21 degrees north latitude, with a long summer and no winter. A sudden shower can turn the lingering heat into the brisk cool air of autumn here. While it is extreme cold in the north, people can still wear skirts in winter here.

Here you can see the marvelous rainforest spectacle of "king of strangling tree", spinulose tree fern, plate-like roots, age-old vines and curare trees. The thick forest, tall bamboo and ancient trees, mixing together with jabbering of apes, singing of birds, dancing of peacocks, playing of pigeons and the limpid water, present a picturesque and harmonious scene of nature and human.

Dai people do papermaking, blacksmithing, brewing, cloth dyeing, sugar pressing, potting and brocading; they enjoy every detail of their lives. They send their blessings to each other during the Water-splashing Festival in April.

(Notes: They are quite good at singing and dancing. Their achievements in music are well-known among all the ethnic groups. Their folk and traditional musical instruments include the elephant-foot drum, bronze gong, clarinet, and hulusi.

The Water-splashing Festival is the New Year of the Dai ethnic minority. On the 24th to 26th day of the sixth month of the Dai calendar, people engage in traditional activities such as water-splashing and dragon-boating, hoping to pacify evil spirits and ensure a good harvest in the coming year.)

Jino people tap out wonderful music with bamboo.
