BEIJING, Oct. 2 (People's Daily Online) -- World No.4 David Ferrer advanced to the second round of the China Open by defeating Vasek Pospisil of Canada 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2) at Beijing's National Tennis Centre Tuesday.
The 31 year-old has suffered two back to back early exits from the two Masters Series events in Montreal and then again in Cincinnati, and suffered another early defeat at the Malaysia Open last week.
The Spaniard reached a career-high ranking of World No. 3 in July 2013.
