Pushy parents turn matchmaking events into ‘marriage fairs’ (5)

People's Daily Online)  08:18, July 10, 2013

It is traditional for Chinese parents to expect their grown-up children to marry well, settle down and have a family.

In front of a booth, a mother complained to her husband, "Today’s business is not very good; we have only a few visitors.” She told her husband that one evening she overheard a dialogue between two mothers. Both seemed satisfied with the other’s child.

The woman’s mother asked the man whether it was late for home and would he have dinner with his parents at home. The young man replied that he took the highway and would be home in an hour. The girl’s mother added that the community she lived in had very small parking lots and the parking fee was 5 yuan a day.
