Two people confirmed dead in San Francisco air crash (2)

Asiana Airline Flight 214 from Seoul, South Korea crashed at 11:30 am on July 6 in San Francisco Airport.

The flight left from Shanghai and stopped in Seoul before heading to San Francisco. Released images show that the plane lost its tail with most of its roof charred. Reports say that it was the fifth accident of Asiana Airline, which was founded in 1988.

A total of 307 individuals, including 291 passengers and 16 crew members were on board. Two people were confirmed dead.

34 Chinese high school students and one teacher were on board, according to Kevin Chung, a driver from Marisan Travel, who was supposed to pick up the crowd from the airport to San Jose Marriott.

Chinese Consulate in San Francisco is checking the status of the wounded Chinese citizens and preparing a release, said Wang Chuan, a press officer with the consulate.

A total of 61 were injured and taken to 13 local hospitals for treatment. 10 people, including two children, are now in critical condition.

Eye witnesses have reported a "bouncing plane flying in, tail landing the ground first." Fire has been reported on the plane prior to landing, according to SFO tower control. The cause of the crash, however, has not been confirmed.
