Qinghui Garden, Foshan, Guangdong Province
Qinghui Garden is among the four famous gardens in Lingnan (the area south of the Five Ridges). Covering an area of 20,000 square meters, the garden was designed ingeniously, drawing the essence of Suzhou gardens while in line with local conditions. The neat and ingenious garden is centered on a waterside pavilion. It has verdant grass and a quite stream as well as exquisite rockeries and antique windows.
Visitors can find many special characteristics in the garden. There is a set of stained glass panels from Qing Dynasty, depicting eights famous scenic attractions of Guangzhou in the past. The making of the small stained glass panels involved such unique traditional techniques as etching, polishing, and color painting. It is said that this kind of craftsmanship has been lost forever. Besides, glass panels of four colors include green, red, yellow, and blue representing the four seasons of a year can also be found in the garden.
