In recent years, gourd pyrography has getting increasingly popular and attracts many fans. It can be seen in many antique markets, auctions and craft markets. Gourd pyrography is also called pyrography or “huo bi hua”. Artists paint on gourds with electric irons. Selecting gourds is an important step in gourd pyrography. The “Benchang gourds” have good shape and harmonious proportion in two parts of the gourd. The “Fanzhi gourds” are gourds grown from modes, which can be categorized as “for daily uses” , “for watching” and so forth. The former one has wine gourds, vases, small piers and so on. This picture shows painting on a “Fanzhi gourd”. (CNS/Zhangyu)
