Cradle of Hakka: walled village in Ganzhou, E China (9)

A 93-year-old man talks a story about walled villages in Yangcun Town of Longnan County in Ganzhou City, east China's Jiangxi Province, Nov. 21, 2012. The Gannan (southern Jiangxi Province) Hakka walled villages, a special architectural type, was included into China's World Cultural Heritage Tentative List on Nov. 17, 2012. The whole structure of the building resembles a small fortified city, containing halls, storehouses and living areas. It is regarded as the "cradle of Hakka". According to official statistics, there are over 600 such buildings in Gannan at present. (Xinhua/Song Zhenping)
