At around 4 p.m. on May 9, three construction workers were buried at a drainage construction site which collapsed due to the rain in Suizhou city in central China’s Hubei province.

To avoid secondary damage to the workers, firefighter Cai Wei excavated the debris on top of the trapped workers with bare hands, instead of using a shovel or crowbar. Though his palms and hands were severally abraded, Cai successfully rescued the three trapped workers.
