Legislators oversee ethnic regional autonomy regulations

(Xinhua)    16:38, April 29, 2016

BEIJING, April 29 -- Six teams from China's top legislature will be sent to inspect the implementation of government regulations and bylaws on the regional autonomy system for ethnic minorities.

The inspection panel of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee on Friday held a meeting to launch the campaign.

China's law on regional autonomy for ethnic minorities allows central government authorities to formulate administrative regulations, ordinances and bylaws within their respective administrations to implement the law.

The inspectors will oversee the practice of these regulations and bylaws and solicit suggestions about policies and enforcement.

The six teams will be sent to different ethnic autonomous regions and provinces, including Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Qinghai and Sichuan to carry out the inspection, which is expected to last from May to September.

Findings of the mission will be submitted for the NPC Standing Committee's review.
