Delivery man slapped and cursed by car owner triggers outrage

By Zou Luxiao (People's Daily Online)    10:07, April 18, 2016

A footage uploaded on Weibo, China’s twitter, of a young delivery man being slapped and cursed by a man in Beijing quickly went viral as it triggers outrage online on April 17, 2016. Police say that the man was angered at the courier’s hitting into his car.

In the video, the car owner slapped the delivery man several times and terrible swearwords were heard uttered by the car owner. Two other men stood beside, trying to intervene. The delivery man remained silent all the time as he was being beaten and cursed.

SF Express later said on Weibo that they have found the delivery man in the video and taken him to the hospital for treatment, and that he suffered soft tissue injuries.

“Our delivery men are kids in their twentieth. They travel streets in all weather and serve the community with smiles despite of the toil. We sincerely wish for understanding when such incidents happen. Respect comes first.” said the express company on Weibo.

Wang Wei, chairman of SF Express, voiced his anger on his personal account on China's most widely-used chatting APP. "I, Wang Wei, announce to all the friends: If I leave one stone unturned in this incident, I would not be qualified to be the chairman!"

Police disclosed that the delivery man said that he did not break any traffic rules. Further investigation is still under way.
